Why choose us for your project?

Traditional Craftsmanship Built to Last

Our ethos is clear; to build beautiful solid walls which are both neat & tidy, yet full of character (as we think a dry stone wall should be!)

With a keen eye for detail, much thought is put into the placement of every stone going into one of our walls.
We love building walls that will be admired & enjoyed for decades to come.
As well as using new stone we have experience in creating walls using mainly reclaimed stone. If you have good quality old stone on site we will be happy to preserve it rather than insisting on you buying all new stone.

We are just as happy repairing walls as we are working on new walls.
So if it is a wall repair job that you need we are here to help!
We provide our high quality craftsmanship at reasonable rates. We aim to be competitive with our prices, but never at the expense of providing a top quality service.

As a traditional artisan craft, we enjoy the creative side to dry stone walling. Each wall is totally unique and authentic. We approach each walling project with as much enthusiasm, care & attention as if it were our own.

What stone do we use?

We are happy working with new or reclaimed stone, or both!

We are always keen to use reclaimed Cotswold stone if it’s available to us.

In addition most projects will require at least some new stone. We will of course discuss this with you.
New stone can be sourced locally. We have links to many local quarries and can help with choosing the right stone for your project.
This will need to be ordered and paid for in advance by the client but we are able to help with arranging this as well as delivery.
We can hand pick stone for clients on smaller jobs and deliver ourselves.

Repairs
Repairs to walls are a big part of our job. We enjoy making vital repairs to the structure of damaged walls as much as building new walls. We are happy to help with all size wall repairs. Please get in contact if you require help with a damaged wall. Some insurance companies will be able to help with this depending on the cover you have, please contact your insurer to see if this is an option.

More about Us:
Our names are Philip & Emily Lines.
A husband -wife team, we have worked outdoors together for over twenty years on our property maintenance business in Painswick, Gloucestershire.

Dry Stone Walling
Phil’s first step into dry stone walling began in 2020. Following his initial training course he worked voluntarily on a wall at a farmhouse in Cranham, Gloucestershire. He was then offered the job to restore all of their walls! This he did alongside the running of our property maintenance business.
During his time in Cranham he restored field boundary walls, entrance and garden walls, and walls outside of holiday cottages. He also built the stonework for a beautiful landscaped garden pond. This was a wonderful introduction to dry stone walling!
Since then he went on to complete his intermediate level walling assessment with the DSWA, and has firmly established himself in this field locally, working on a variety of projects both large & small.
Having spent the last couple of years assisting Phil (mainly as a stone sorter!) Emily enthusiastically joined Phil full time in 2024 in this side of our business as well. She has fallen in love with walling as much as Phil did!

With over twenty years of local business ownership and fantastic customer service we are a great choice if you are looking to have a wall restored or constructed from new.
